This Book Week, we were thrilled to sponsor Nathan, Nat, and Shaun from Nova 93.7 for their live Book Week broadcast from Brentwood Primary School. It was an exciting day filled with fun, laughter, and a shared love of reading, and we were proud to be part of it for the second year in a row.
Supporting early literacy is something we’re passionate about. Reading is a vital part of children’s development and helps little learners become School ReadY, giving them the best start at school and beyond.
The celebration concluded with our acting CEO, Grant Yonge, presenting a $5,000 donation to Brentwood Primary School to help purchase new books for their library. We’re excited that this contribution will support children’s access to quality literacy and inspire a lifelong love of reading.
Acting CEO Grant Yonge said, “The entire school turned out dressed as their favourite book characters – an amazing effort, and the Nova 937 Breakfast crew did a great job of keeping the energy levels high. It really showcased how much fun reading can be, but the Y’s sponsorship of book week is about something far more serious.”
“Reading is a foundational skill, something all children need to flourish on their education journey, and sadly, the reality is that by the time many children get to school age, their reading skills are not where they need to be to support their learning journeys.”
“That’s why we invest so heavily in our School ReadY program in our Early Learning Centres, ensuring young minds get the early language and literacy development they need to flourish as they reach school.”
Book Week is a perfect reminder of the impact we can make when we champion reading in our community, and we’re proud to continue supporting initiatives that help children flourish.
